A first:
Met my first bus driver from China this evening while on the way home. Not only is it a reflection of outsourcing carried to the extreme, it is also an indication of the pervasiveness of the migrant worker in our everyday life as we develop into an increasingly diverse and cosmopolitan city. One wonders whether minority passengers might feel slighted that they would not be able to get any help from a driver who was only capable of communicating in Mandarin. It would not be surprising that one might even feel a stranger in one's own country as communication increasingly becomes challenging in a very basic aspect of everyday life.
An Opportunity:
The news reports say that we might be heading for a recession. It is not at all surprising given the financial crisis that we are now facing. Possibly the only good that might come of it would be a cooling of commodity and property prices. An opportunity to invest in an apartment perhaps?
Weekend promises to be busy with organising WAD stuff. Things are turning out well for the event.
