Sat:
Arrived in Germany to realise that Russia and Georgia had begun fighting over South Ossetia. It was quite surreal considering that our flight flew over South Ossetia enroute to Frankfurt.
Had a problem with luggage and customs on the way out of Berlin airport. It was quite a hassle dealing with the rigid German bureaucracy. Thankfully, things were solved quickly.
Met some of the participants where we set off for a welcome reception at the Amb's house. The weather was nice so we sat out at the garden and partook of the sandwiches. Thereafter, we took the train to Potsdamer Platz and did some of the tourist sites there (Parliament Hse, Jewish Memorial).
Sunday:
Went to Church today at St Matthias. Sermon was good and it was the first time that I saw a full church in Europe. Went to the Bode Museum thereafter and took some pictures of the surrounding historical district. Have an official dinner later.
Course starts on Monday. Need to make some calls then.
