I found it quite incredulous that seven couples would decide to solemnise their marriage at a Chingay procession. That the institution of marriage should be reduced to that of a spectacle is regrettable. While these couples may have been motivated in having their solemnised in front of crowds of Singaporeans, or merely just taking advantage of a "once-in-a-lifetime" opportunity to satisfy their narcissistic tendencies, my view is that it is an extremely private and important event which should be witnessed only by people who are feature importantly in the couples' lives. That it be done in full view of the entire nation reduces the entire institution of marriage into a frivolous affair.
March is coming, the season of the Mosaic Fest. I have looked at some of the free acts and they look quite good. Will probably be attending some of them.
