Went out last night with L, Yx and SMS to Arab Street ostensibly to visit Books Actually. However, it was after dinner that we discovered that the bookstore was not in the vicinity.
We then moved on to the building affectionately known to most as Gotham City. Therein was a bar which I had previously thought was members-only. However, to my surprise, we were let in without any fuss. Set in a huge, mammoth hall with intricate designs that looked pretty socialist and soviet, the entire space comprised of two bars, one for cocktails and another for the rest. The interesting feature about the bar was that its wine bottles were stacked a in a cooler a few stories high. The waitress, dressed as an angel, had to tie herself to a pylon which lifted her up to the bottles of wine. It made it seem as if she was flying. We were fascinated.
For the first few hours, we were the only ones in the bar. A band (with double bass and piano!!!) played as a vocalist sang progressively badly jazz numbers.
It was a starry night last night, with the full moon was beautiful. I realised also that to find someone with whom you can connect with and shares your vision is something very rare. One can even say that its a gift from above. This is to be cherished.
