Had dinner last night at KPT's place with some of the USP schoolmates where we updated each other on our lives as well as reminisced over the memories of our time in school. I must say that the exchange of ideas amongst people who have had their different experiences over the table was very entertaining, if not extremely simulating.

In the quest for material accumulation in a society which views one's success by his material accummulation, it is difficult to dissociate oneself from the cycle once one is in it and has taken a taste of its sweetness. Yet, in many ways, it is so easy to be obsessed over material accumulation and see it as the be-all and end-all of what we do. Perhaps this obsession for material accumulation is a sort of relief to get over the pain from the mundane duties of life and the ugliness of human nature which one sees. Why do you think shopping has now become known as "retail therapy"?

Was talking to WT earlier yesterday about going for a holiday over the Easter break next year when she suggested the Maldives (the island of Baros). Check out their website: http://www.baros.com/. Clear azure waters and white sandy beaches. Baros seems to be a place where one can truly unwind, isolated from the rest of the world. However, it seems that accommodation can be rather pricey at USD $740/night for the cheapest room. Hopefully we would have been able to save enough by then to afford that holiday!
