Moving on.

With inflation going sky-high, it is interesting to note that today's Sunday Times has an article on how Singaporean families are tightening their belts back-to-back with a story of a billionaire who blew $435 million for a condo. The contrast cannot be starker.
What is worrying is that families who are struggling to survive amidst soaring inflation are doing so at the expense of their health. With food prices soaring, some would probably have to settle for eating cheaper alternatives such as preserved/canned food which may be to the detriment to their health. It is unbelievable that while inflation here is going sky-high, prices across the border seem to be quite stable. Perhaps Singaporean families should make frequent trips to Malaysia to do their grocery shopping.
With the current property craze, compounded by the rise in consumer prices and the spike in oil prices, one wonders if our economy is overheating. It does not look as if prices will go down anytime soon and that the trend is that prices can only go upward. I guess the only way of getting out of this predicament is to either make wise investment decisions or to get out of the country.
In other events, today I made my first speech in front of a small congregation at Church. Surprisingly, it went well even though I did not make much use of the script that was with me. And people gave generously after that.
I have decided to move on. After last night, I felt that I had crossed a certain milestone. What to do next is still uncertain. But I am sure opportunities will come my way.
In any case, I had a good dinner with some of the volunteers last night at Prego's. It was nice talking to them and getting to know them better.
